The rather loosely termed "gentleman" who "rebuilt" this engine before me had to have been an automotive genius. As far as I can tell, he painted the engine without any valve covers, oil filter, oil pan, harmonic balancer, or manifolds installed. There is paint all over the sealing surfaces. The head rockers have overspray. It took me an hour to remove the harmonic balancer and I think it was installed over WET PAINT.
I have a special crowbar for these types of people.
